The Montessori classrooms are multi-aged learning environments based on Maria Montessori’s studies and theory of human development.

The benefits are numerous and children enjoy an enriched educational experience in these combined age classrooms.  Older children act as role models for the younger ones, having the opportunity to instruct their younger peers whilst also reviewing concepts continually.  It is also a very natural way to socially interact with a wider age group.

The key elements that make up the Montessori Curriculum include:

  • Practical Life Activities

  • Sensorial Life

  • Language

  • Mathematics

  • Cultural Studies

Our Cycle 1 Program runs for 3 years including Prep, for children aged 3-6 years old. Upon completion, they are eligible to continue with Cycle 2 at Mitcham Primary School - Montessori Stream.

Our Centre runs two classes and can accommodate up to 28 children per class. We have an educator to child ratio of 1:11. Each session has a Montessori qualified Directress, an Early Childhood teacher as well as an additional Educator where needed.
